I'm currently a pursuing a PhD in neurobiology at the University of Chicago. Reading, writing, and research take up most of my time, but whenever I have a little to spare I grab my camera and go. I am a fairly new convert to digital photography, previously using my Nikon N80 with either black & white or color slide film. I was taught photography at a very young age by my father and grandfather. During the few warm Midwest months my father and I still search prairies, swamps, and woodlands for interesting birds, butterflies, plants.
As my photos suggest, I am interested in photographing patterns in nature and architecture, at both macro and mega scales. Today I shoot primarily with my Nikon D80 using a variety of lenses and filters, however, I always keep the amazingly powerful and compact Canon PowerShot SX100IS with me wherever I go.
Thanks for taking a look at my photos and if you have any questions, please ask! I’m going to attempt to keep a blog that you can reach via my navigation menu that explains some of the techniques and stories behind my pictures, so feel free to have a look.
